Where does it split the text?
At the end of a sentence wherever possible, then at a line break, then at a space. It never cuts a word in half unless a single word is longer than the whole limit.
Does it know links take up 23 characters?
Yes. X shortens every link, so each one costs exactly 23 characters no matter how long it really is. Most splitters count the raw characters and give you posts that turn out too long.
Why does it leave room at the end?
The numbering has to fit too. A post ending in 12/15 needs those characters counted, so the tool reserves them up front rather than pushing you over.
Can I use it for other platforms?
Yes — set the limit to whatever you need. 280 is the default.
